Whats good People of earth! After settling into the new diggs Ive made a comfortable home here in KW. Soon after getting here I was already contacting some connections to the music scene. Its thriving with talented rap and spoken word poets. I managed to hook up with Jason Know-it-all, a major player in beat/hip hop production out here. Together, him and his team Marmel ENT. run A studio in Cambridge. I spent some time in the booth there meeting a lot of local heads who came thru during the session. Im currently sitting on a few tracks Im still listening to and perfecting. Some of it was older material so its caused me to put a hold on there release as Im feeling Ive grown substantially since then. Im still getting beats on the regular. Im still writing though not as much. There is a lot to get involved in around here. Ive been focusing on my job as a head chef at a hotel & meeting the right people. Business owners, forward thinkers & conscious minds. Its a great feeling knowing that Im finally in a place where I can do and be anything. Keep ya head up!

The Pursuit of Happyness

Its 2015. I’ve been treading water in Simcoe for 2 years now and I’ve learned that it’s not a place to grow as much as it is a place to die. I managed to organize a town-wide cypher league to launch this year but my life has taken a major 180 and I find myself being summoned to the artistically vibrant community of Kitchener-Waterloo. The region is said to be one of the most unique places to live in Ontario, or even in all of Canada.  Not only is the music scene in full swing but there are some great venues to perform at. I’d be lying if I said my heart wasn’t the main reason of my move but at the end of the day I will be happier in a place that thrives on creativity and will openly  welcome somebody like myself. Two respected Universities make it a young and hip place to be. KW's small town feel combined with its academic atmosphere is a huge selling point.. I don’t think they’re ready for me!

 I’ll touch lightly on the fact I’m getting back together with the ‘one that got away’.  Sometimes life really does resemble a sappy movie or a powerful story you read in a book. Long enough have I pined over the fact I wasn’t ready at the time to want the life I do now. The older you get the more you realize what you want out of it. The ‘American dream’ lifestyle becomes less of a conspiracy and simply becomes a place you just want to call home. I consider myself blessed that after a close-call marriage and a new house on the table, She made the painful yet powerful decision to follow her heart. If you’ve found the one then don’t let it go. These days the rate of settled marriages and falsified love is staggering. I know what I want. I know who I want, and there’s a lot to be said for just that.

I’d say wish me luck but I don’t need it. Perseverance and an undeniable push from the universe has left me no choice but to put everything on hold and fight for a life I deserve. Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own actions so if you want to be happy then plan your thoughts and actions accordingly.

Kurt Hustle and I link up once again for our new track “Memories” – a melodic testament off the up and coming duo mixtape. Both of us bring some serious bars while Huss delivers a captivating hook. This catchy track was produced by No Eyez Ent and features a beat from Araab Muzik that compliments this smooth soundscape perfectly. Enjoy.

Twenty Fourteen!

If your New Year is anything like mine, then I’ll assume it’s off to a good start.

2013 was fruitful and a lot of things changed for me. My outlook, my attitude and my lyrics are just a few of them.

Right Now.

I’m currently working on a duo mixtape with the heavyweight Norfolk native; Kurt Hustle. The titled is yet to be officially announced, however I can almost guarantee it will be something that pays homage to the early 90’s scene.  We are half way through album and I can honestly say I couldn’t be more excited with the direction it’s going. With Hustle’s slow flow and his biggie-like candor, our styles paradox each other yet somehow sound fluent and cohearant. A recent photoshoot for the tape went down with the popular skateboard videographer Mr. Ryan Loney. We went from Rooftops to a Boat Junk yard to snap some of the best pictures I’ve had to date.

As soon as they are ready you can find them right here on the blog. The rap scene is pretty much non-existent where I’m living right now and when spring hits, will be the perfect place to launch the mixtape. I’m currently looking at getting an apartment in Port Dover. A huge place for the summer scene where people come from all over for the legendary beach and surfing life. I’m excited for 2014 and like always, rap to me is a therapeutic hobby. A means in which I can relay what’s going through this brain of mine. Self Centered

When I think about it, its always been just me. I remember back in Burlington and the crew I came up with. As we got older and more experienced in our craft it became clear that I wanted to take a different lyrical path then they did.
Rap music is extremely influential and the suburban area I came from created alot of hood-wannabe gangsters. I always felt too many of these so called friends were creating that image rather then actually being a part of that environment. I chose to become an outcast rather then follow the beat of something I didn't believe in.

Fast forward to the present. I've worked with many artists to date and anyone I choose to work with I always believe in. I've never been nor will ever be a dick rider or catch some other rappers coat tails to boost my name and image. I guess you could say I'm a contradicting rapper. In an industry full of co-signing and crew hopping, its almost a must that you become excepted by a celebrity first. Its an exact example of what this games about. Its about making a brand, no different from any subliminal commercialization you are surrounded with everyday. I sometimes wish we could take rap back to the 80's again.

In conclusion. Its best to stay focused on your craft and stay in your own lane. I need to put my own money where my mouth is now and stop pussyfooting around the industry. I haven't got time for false promises and I respect those whom I've tried to work with but best of luck to them and all there ventures.

As for me, it doesn't matter where I am, I will always have my hand in the local hip hop scene.

March Madness

Hi everyone - hope your winter is treating you well and your as excited for spring as much as I am.. I’m writing you with a few announcements, the first being that I had to step down as Pope back in Feburary. Apparently the Vatican just found out that by decoding some of my lyrics you will find plans to overthrow the religious goverment..

Second of all, I wanted you to know that I have indeed been busy writing and working on new music for you to hear. I have a bunch of material/songs in various stages of completion and am in the midst of organizing which songs go with which. Stylistically, they’re all over the map (what’s new?) and after agonizing over the ongoing "Is The Album A Dead Artform?" arguments, I’ve decided I should, for now at least, release music in smaller doses on a more regular basis, and then these can be compiled at a later date onto a long-form album release for those who still cling to such things (as I sometimes do). So, that being said, watch for a new EP this Spring, with more to come shortly thereafter. I’m aiming to release the short-form releases digitally and virally, and then trot out the old CD burner for the full-length one when it comes along.

Did you guys see my brief appearance on the Lyrical Measurment Recap video last week? I had a couple of moments in their well edited line up. Big shouts to Kurt Hustle bringing me along on that. It was a fun show and Im looking forward to the next. I hyped and dropped some verses. Meeting and making new connections and networking was the main goal, not to mention the girls I met which is probably the best part.:)

Speaking of video, please feel free to take video if you’re at any of my shows - sometimes I get home from doing a show that I’ve been really happy with and want to show my family and then realize that people were being polite and hadn’t posted stuff. I think YouTube is a pretty cool resource for archiving shows, and you can be a part of that. Basically what I’m saying is that if they announce on a ticket or onstage that no photos or video is allowed, it’s not coming from me!

Other than a small slip up with a so-called 'scratch' on our brandnew cd with our set list, The show went alright. There was 100 off and on guest that night and it proved to be a great opportunity to network with some Canadian talent. 10+ acts hit the stage and delivered a slew of different styles and lyrical diversity. After properly hyping the crowd I signaled the DJ, my dude Kurt hit home plate and the people went wild. I dropped a verse on our 'So what' track. Nearing the end is when the mishap-happened. All in all it was a good night. We would of liked to see more local people/friends have come out but there will be many more shows in the future. Special thanks to Shining Starz Tour for letting me get involved. Shout out Kurt Hustle for the Invite! Stay tuned for the next listing!!

Good Girls Gone

 Why is so hard to find her? I'm talking to the perfect women. A common question, "Why is it so hard to find the right person?" The answer is different for everyone. Good women are hard to find - I believe that is true. Many are already taken. Many are afraid to show themselves because there are so many male nut-jobs out there, and many are just hanging out in places where you are not looking. It may be hard to find one, but it is worth the effort. I'm at a place in life now where Ive stopped looking for a place to hang my underwear, and started to look for a place to hang my hat. I had it at one point and blew it. I think it holds me back. My expectations are higher then they should be. What I do know is that the older I get, the harder it seems to meet credible women. Ask about me, I've never been the type for floozie girls and one night stands. Alot of the misconception is all guys just want to sleep with as many girls as possible. Real men still respect women and treat them with honor. Call me old fashioned, but I'm from the mid eighties and quite possibly the last generation to view women as more than an object.

  On that note the 'nice guy finishes last' statement isn't popular for no reason. It holds some merit in my experiences. Don't get me wrong, Ive been the 'bad guy' to most parents of my girlfriends. If looking at my track record, Ive only really dated 5 women in my life and all of them were innocent, suburban good girls. I'm tired of the hunt. I never really was one for the chase to begin with. Maybe I should listen to myself when I say that things that are meant to be will present themselves to you. If you let it cross your path naturally chances are its worth a shot. If anyone else out there is going through a breakup or having trouble finding 'the one', stay vigilant. Don't give up on yourself. Time is limited; emotions are short. Don't spread yourself too thin. Focus on the close relationships you have now. These are the folks who'll stand by your side no matter what. You'll have plenty of time in the coming future to make a new chapter. Remember, Sometimes being solo is wiser than being in a false relationship.

Norfolk Has Talent

Whats good Everyone?!! Lots has been going on in the small county of Norfolk which as of late, doesn't seem so small. I've been lucky enough to get involved in the local theatre as a breakdancing/ movement teacher. The heavy hitters in the Norfolk County Theatre Arts Scene have joined forces to bring Ontario’s South Coast the “talent showcase” of the century.
The project is the brainchild of David Kent, General Director of Simcoe’s Young Theatre Players and longtime fixture of the arts community in Norfolk. Says Kent, “We are lucky to have a very rich arts scene in our county. With five theatres working collaboratively, the outcome will be quite the spectacle. There is so much talent!”
Representing official Grand Champion Sponsor, the Simcoe Reformer, Sue Downs adds, “I’ve always wanted to be involved with a competition like this. The Simcoe Reformer is delighted to be a part of this powerhouse team.” The team includes: Simcoe Little Theatre, Waterford’s Old Town Hall, the Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover, the Backstage Capitol in Delhi and Simcoe’s Young Theatre Players.
Preliminary auditions will be held at each of the 5 participating theatres over four weekends in September, and will result in a Live Stage Show scheduled for Saturday, October 20th at the Simcoe Composite School Lions Auditorium. “It will be a wonderful opportunity to present various types of talent that might be ‘hidden’ within our County borders,” says Kent. He adds, “Like the reality TV shows, auditions are open to anyone and everyone in Norfolk. All types of talent are welcome!” 32 finalists will be chosen to stage their act in the October show.
The culminating Live Stage Show will not disappoint! Norfolk Has Talent judges are planned to include; Cal Dodd -- a Port Dover native and film and television star -- along with So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s 2011 winner, Jordan Clark and Theo Tams from Coaldale, Alberta winner of the 2008 Canada's Got Talent.
“And here’s a little teaser: We’re adding some exciting elements to the final show, not the least of which is a possible opening performance by a guest celebrity artist!” says Kent. “To keep up to date on all the NHT news, I encourage folks to watch the NHT website, Simcoe Reformer and other local news.”

ACHES OR ACRES

Yes yes y'all! If your life doesn't take turns and twists every once in awhile whats the point of living?! The lessons never stop coming. I've written out all the nessesary woes I needed since the split. I love the therapy one gets from just writing.
   I've found a bachelor apt. for myself in a quaint town south of Brantford. Im no stranger to the country side of Canada. The town is smaller, and theres a lot less congestion in all aspects. I've lived in the city and also in the country and I like the option to visit both.
   I will miss Barrie. I met a lot of great artist and had the opportunity to work with some serious talent. Barrie is a great place for any artist to get his foot in the door. I learned alot about community involvement while there. The green programs and non-profit organizations were a big part of the local studio. I owe alot to everyone that was apart of the movement.
   I always make my best music and art in the country. I can make music anywhere I go. Tools and supplies are cheaper here. Kids can run free without getting into too much trouble. Perhaps my biggest attraction is in small communities everyone looks out for every one else. I was only here a day and old friends made me feel right at home. No smog, no construction or sirens or traffic jams. No garbage trucks waking you up at some awful hour. I know where I feel the most at ease.
   As far as music goes. I have a few recorded songs still to be mastered. The body of work I promised is still in the recording phase. I will keep you updated as I go. Stay tuned as usual!! and remember, if you don't like something in your life, then change it.

TABLE FOR ONE.

Freedom and independence. These are just two words that come along with being single. To officially clear the air, yes; the rumors are true. 

   Love is a fickle thing. I cant remember the last time I truly felt single, its as if the ultimate goal in life is to pair up with another human being and cling to that ideal as if your life depends on it. The truth is, I'm a stickler for companionship. I sometimes see myself as an extreme loner, but I've always needed the touch of a women, or the natural guidance they provide. The older I get the less social I've become. Friends are far and few, and I've become an introvert. I suppose this would be a great time to nurture my extroverted side, but when you've been so used to having Someone close, optimism is harder to come by. Half of me is looking forward to the finacial gain and the lost search for who I am. The other half, wretched in forlornness. 
   I'm writing this blog entry not only to update everyone, but also to speak to the single people out there who may feel alone. You do not need to be loved, not at the cost of yourself. The single relationship that is truly central and crucial in a life is the relationship to the self. Of all the people you will know in a lifetime, you are the only one you will never lose.
   Special Thanks to Everyone who have stuck with me, and continually supported my art. Without you guys I would have giving up a long time ago. I promise to have a body of work for you very soon.
